Summer Camp starts the 1st week of July and runs to the 1st week of October. Our summer camp in in Timber Lake, SD.
Puppy Program is $900.
This is for dogs about a year old or less.
There is no formal training involved beyond some rudimentary controls (Here) the purpose of the puppy program is birds - as many as we can get a young dog into - we will run puppies 3 or 4 times a week on wild birds while we work our other broke dogs in roading harnesses - it is not unusual for the dogs to encounter 30 or more birds every time out.
We also take long walks up a tree line known to hold lots of birds a couple times a week for gun fire conditioning and other things.
Summer Camp Gun Dog/Trial Training is $1400
This is a very involved training program - it consists of roading dogs for condition 3 times a week 6-12 miles.We also do all the yard work - whoa, here and so forth - usually done on the initial month of training. We then utilize pen raised birds to break the dogs to be steady to wing and shot and honoring through the shot.
Once pretty reliable on the pen birds - we move out to the prairie running dogs from horseback on wild sharptails, huns and pheasants.
We work the gun dogs at a comfortable gun dog range and pace - and of course our trial dogs are ran at a pace and range more suited for success in field trials.
The dogs are expected to be steady to wing and shot in this phase that continues once we start - 1st or 2nd week of August to the completion of summer camp in October.
